Social Capital Holdings began in 2019 with a simple idea: build businesses that succeed financially and create thriving cultures. This vision led to the creation of the Social Capital Foundation, preceding Social Capital Holdings. Founders Darryl Moore and Spencer R. Potesta combined their expertise – Darryl’s financial acumen and Spencer’s expertise in organizational psychology – to support the healthcare sector. The goal was a self-sustaining cycle where the for-profit arm supports the Foundation.

Darryl’s hedge fund and non-profit healthcare background provided financial expertise and a passion for social impact. Spencer, a clinical psychotherapist and organizational consultant, understood that a company's people are its greatest strength. His experience demonstrated that applying psychology to business unlocks potential.

Building on the Foundation's experience, they created Social Capital Holdings. The private fund structure allows a focus on long-term growth. They partner with companies, actively working with leadership and employees to improve operations and build positive cultures, using principles of individual and organizational psychology.
